Job Title: Science Internship Department: Automotive and Diversified Engineering
Position Description: Develop process to make products Scaling up the manufacture of products from the laboratory bench to the productions plants Help in the designing of equipment, understand its' purpose, installing control systems, and staffing, running and upgrading the processes Work is project-oriented and the engineer may be working on a number of projects
Typical Work Activities Will Include: Reviewing existing data to see if more research and information need to be collated, to determine the adequacy of the exsiting processes and equipment Help designing, installing and commissioning new equipment, monitoring development, modifications or upgrades of existing processes Preparing reports, flow diagrams and charts Analyzing process to insure they work at the optimum level, to the right rate and meet quality standards Making observations and taking measurements directly, as well as collecting and interpreting data from the other technical and operating staff Assuming responsability for ongoing performance of processes Ensuring that all aspects of an assigned operation or process meets specifications Working closely with other Engineers as well as the manufacturing plant personnel Performing process capability studies Other statistical process, such as linearity tests and "T" tests
Job Skill Requirement: Full time student Senior level science (chemistry, biology, or physics) major Strong communication skills Self-motivated Strong detail and organization skills Basic computer knowledge including Excel and Word The willingness to work in a group environment as well as independently Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Willingness to work on production floor to gather data
Working Environment: Office environment and as neccessary in the manufacturing plants
Position Reports To: Process Manager
Shift Hours: Part-time and/or Full-time during the school year, flexible schedule and a competitive hourly salary (also available full-time during summers)
Transportation: Public transportation from Reading only
Interview Location: Off campus, at East Penn
